The present work addresses the role of nurses in the main difficulties of breastfeeding in first-time mothers. Methodology: The methodology was quantitative and qualitative field research, obtained through data collection, through interviews, 30 first-time mothers were interviewed, with the aim of finding out what their main difficulties in breastfeeding were and whether their role was important. of the nurse in your prenatal care. Results: The age range of these women was 18 to 35 years old and they were all from Itacoatiara. Discussion: The success of breastfeeding depends on several factors, such as: beliefs, cultures, family, society and the support given to the postpartum woman. Therefore, the nurse must be prepared to clearly advise the pregnant woman about the importance of healthy eating, to achieve a healthy breastfeeding practice. Conclusion: Thus, it can be concluded that the nurse is not only a professional who welcomes, but is also the one who informs, guides and assists mothers and babies during the breastfeeding process, from prenatal care to the postpartum period.
