Aneurysm is a punctual and irreversible dilation of the arterial wall, with abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) being the most common subtype. Thus, this article aimed to report a case of infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm with signs of imminent rupture on CT angiography, in an elderly patient and smoker, with a clinical condition that began 48 hours ago, in which the patient was still hemodynamically stable due to tamponade of the rupture site by a retroperitoneal hematoma seen at surgery. Considering the proposed theme, in addition to the initial approach, the exams and procedures performed and the patient's evolution during hospitalization were described, with discussion and bibliographic review on the topic.
