Rupture of the Achilles tendon has affected more and more people, mostly men between 30 and 40 years old, whether practicing sports, amateurs or people with some degree of degeneration of this dense connective tissue. The objective of this review is to elucidate the effects of immediate and delayed post-surgical physiotherapeutic rehabilitation of the Achilles tendon, based on open and minimally invasive surgical procedures. A bibliographic review was carried out on articles found on the PubMed, Lilacs, Scielo and PEdro platforms, from 2015 to 2023, with a target audience of men and women aged 30 to 50 years. The results achieved show that physiotherapy, whether immediate or delayed, indicates positive results in the post-operative period for Achilles tendon, however the literature does not present the best way to carry out physiotherapy procedures and techniques in the post-operative period. As for surgical procedures, the minimally invasive technique obtained better results compared to the open repair technique. It is concluded that the minimally invasive surgical technique, combined with physiotherapy, started immediately after Achilles tendon surgery, resulted in the patient returning to sports and routine activities in an accelerated manner.
