Pediatric surgical anesthesiology is a complex discipline that faces specific challenges due to the physiological and pharmacological nuances of children. This article seeks to explore the challenges and strategies in pediatric surgical anesthesiology, with the aim of improving clinical care and outcomes. The systematic literature review highlights inherent challenges such as variability in physiological and pharmacokinetic response across different pediatric age groups. Contemporary strategies, including the use of advanced technologies such as intraoperative echocardiography, are discussed as means of improving the accuracy of anesthetic management. The importance of interdisciplinary collaboration is emphasized, highlighting the need for effective communication and standardized protocols to optimize anesthesia care in pediatric surgery. Furthermore, future perspectives are outlined, underlining the importance of a proactive approach in research and clinical practice to better understand perioperative neurocognitive disorders in children. This study provides a comprehensive view of the challenges faced in pediatric surgical anesthesiology, providing valuable guidance for continually improving the quality of care and outcomes in pediatric patients undergoing surgical procedures.
