PHARMACEUTICAL ATTENTION IN THE USE OF EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTIVES

This study addresses emergency contraception (EC), also known as the morning-after pill, highlighting its effectiveness after unprotected sex. Objective- To relate pharmaceutical care as a promoter of the rational use of medicines, especially those used as emergency contraception methods, also highlighting the importance of the pharmaceutical professional. The objectives include describing EC, mentioning contraceptive pills, reporting side effects and contraindications. Method- Retrospective searches were carried out in national and international databases such as PubMed, Scielo, Science Direct, Google Scholar and electronic journals. Conclusion- Pharmaceutical care becomes essential for effective pharmacotherapy, promoting personalized, humanized and scientifically correct care, thus improving the patient's quality of life.
