Abstract

In this article, we explore the concept of the “Multispecies Family”, a new family model that highlights the coexistence of humans and pets in the same environment. The research involves an analysis of the population's perception of the importance of this unique dynamic and how it impacts the emotional well-being of both parties. A closed questionnaire with 10 questions was used, administered via WhatsApp through a Google Forms link, with the aim of identifying the impact of this interaction on the emotional balance of pets and their guardians. The results revealed that the majority of participants recognize the importance of interaction with pets and how this interaction is beneficial for the emotional well-being of both owners and pets, 97.1% believe that this interaction can contribute to reducing the effects of anxiety, depression and stress. Another point observed was that this relationship also proved to be valuable in therapeutic contexts. Furthermore, it promotes the development of a sense of responsibility and affection in human beings, while animals play a crucial role in this equation, also benefiting from this coexistence, responsible guardians and safe environments play a fundamental role in shaping the behavior of both, creating a mutually enriching relationship over time.
