THE CONTRIBUTION OF TOURISM TO LOCAL DEVELOPMENT IN THE STATE OF BAHIA. AN ANALYSIS OF THE PERIOD 2021 - 2022

Abstract

The tourism sector has consolidated itself as a social phenomenon of great relevance, playing a significant role in generating jobs and income. This article analyzes the contribution of tourism in the state of Bahia in the period between 2021 and 2022. For this analysis, a qualitative methodology was adopted, which included carrying out bibliographic and documentary research. The results obtained indicate that, despite the advantages inherent to tourism as an activity capable of promoting the development of destinations and regions, as well as the wealth of resources available in Bahia, the state's tourism sector is consolidated as one of the sectors that carries the potential to boost economic growth.
