Abstract

Campaign financing in the Brazilian electoral system is a topic of significant importance and discussion in both the political and academic spheres. Since the enactment of Law No. 9.504/1997, which regulates elections in Brazil, debates have emerged regarding the influence of contributions from companies and individuals on electoral processes. Studies indicate that campaign financing can exert a substantial impact on election outcomes, favoring candidates with access to more substantial financial resources. Furthermore, the manner in which financing is conducted can have adverse implications for democracy, such as the use of money in exchange for political favors. The overall objective is to analyze the influence of campaign financing on the Brazilian electoral system, considering factors such as the amount of funds received and their origin. The importance of this topic lies in the need to understand its effects on Brazilian democracy and contribute to the debate on reforms in the political-electoral system.
