PHYSIOTHERAPEUTIC TREATMENT IN THE TREATMENT OF CHONDROMALACIA PATELLAR

Introduction: Chondromalacia patella is a pathology characterized by a softening of the patellar cartilage, being more likely to develop in women, athletes, adolescents, it affects the patella joint generating changes in the cartilage, generating pain, crepitus, local edema, discomfort and increased joint dysfunction . Objective: to analyze the benefits of physiotherapy in the treatment of chondromalacia patella. Material and methods: It is an integrative literature review. The search for articles was carried out through searches in scientific electronic databases such as Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo) PubMed and Virtual Health Library (VHL), keywords: Patellar Chondromalacia/ Patellofemoral Pain/ Treatment. Results: Database searches identified 29 articles in PubMed, Scielo and VHL. After applying the filters, reading the titles, 07 duplicate articles were excluded, 13 articles unrelated to the topic, 09 articles selected for evaluation. Final considerations: It is concluded that in physiotherapy procedures, kinesiotherapy is effective in treatment, through closed kinetic chain exercises and strengthening, providing correction of poor alignment of the lower limbs, strengthening, improving joint stability, reducing effort on the joint, improving motor coordination and reducing symptoms.
