Abstract

The present study aims to examine the worrying scenario of violence in schools, presenting an overview that seeks to identify the causes and consequences. It is essential to address the issue of violence in schools in contemporary times, and, mainly, to offer a concise analysis of the varied manifestations of the phenomenon in Brazilian society.. Based on a bibliographical analysis, as well as news, reports, newsletters, and alarming data from competent bodies, the underlying causes of episodes of violence in schools in the country are investigated, highlighting the complexity of the phenomenon, as well as social factors that contribute to its prevalence. It is seen that such a multifaceted problem also implies the need for multiple countermeasures, and collaboration between different social agents, in order to effectively combat events of this nature, ensuring the essential function of the school environment for everyone.
