With the growth of the elderly population, it is worth highlighting that improving quality of life improves self-perception of aging. Objective: the aim is to review the literature on quality of life in the elderly and the perception of aging. Methodology: The research only included studies published in the last 17 years and was limited to Portuguese, English and Spanish. To this end, a bibliographic survey was carried out in the electronic databases: Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro), and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), resulting in the selection of 21 articles. Discussion: the elderly's quality of life and perception of aging are directly linked to functional capacity, biopsychosocial conditions and performance of routine activities. Conclusion: It was observed that aging presents itself in a positive way when associated with the work of health professionals, especially physiotherapy, to promote quality of life throughout the aging process.
