The present study is a literature review that discusses the latent need to promote learning and well-being for hospitalized children. As we know, the hospital context, in the vast majority of cases, is not a pleasant environment, however, when it comes to child hospitalization, this factor tends to get worse. Over many years, children who had long and/or routine hospitalizations were forced to abandon their studies at that stage and presented a large educational gap. Thus, the topic became relevant to scholars in the field of early childhood education, as the effects were noticeable in adult life. In this way, hospital education began to be carried out through an informal educational approach, aiming to meet the physical, educational and environmental needs of the student. Based on the research carried out to prepare this study, it was possible to conclude that the hospital environment, by nature, is a place where children face significant challenges that affect not only their physical health, but also their emotional and psychological health.
