BIOMEDICAL PERFORMANCE IN FORENSIC TOXICOLOGY

Forensic toxicology's main objective is to detect and quantify toxic substances, providing methods and procedures to solve crimes, using forensic specialists, such as biomedical specialists in the field of criminal expert work. Objective: Report the relevance of biomedicine in the area of forensic toxicology and how to contribute to other multidisciplinary teams in the investigation of crimes, accidents or suspicious deaths, providing technical and scientific evidence for professionals working in the area of criminal justice. Methods: this research is a bibliographic review study, where relevant articles were gathered on virtual platforms such as: CRBM (Regional Biomedicine Council), Pubmed, Medline, RCML, ANVISA, ABBM. Works were preferred as criteria to add to the study of descriptors such as criminal expertise and toxicological analyses, published in the period from 2002 to 2021. Conclusion: the biomedical, due to his performance, has complete capacity to act as a criminal expert, using toxicology forensics to help others and bring justice.
