In the face of the continuous search for harmonious aesthetic smiles, there has been an increase in the demand for aesthetic restorations, which led to the development of specific materials and techniques that aim to restore the appearance of teeth close to their natural condition, especially the anterior teeth. The purpose of this work is to address the indications and techniques for applying direct composite resins. Composite resins are widely used restorative materials in the field of dentistry. They can be applied using both direct and indirect techniques. There are several advantages to using the direct technique, one of which is the greater resistance of the remaining dental structure, in addition, it allows for the potential for repairs to the tooth. Therefore, it is a good option to consider. The direct technique uses composite resin as a restorative material, this technique has the advantage of providing adequate dental morphology, color, and optical properties such as translucency and opacity. In addition, composite resin also provides mechanical strength in cases of fractures and wear.
