Abstract

This study aims to analyze the discussion about Obstetric Violence, as it discusses the violation of the parturient rights and the civil responsibility of health professionals and institutions during the labor and birth process. This paper examines several forms of obstetric violence which include unnecessary interventions, lack of appropriate information and disregard to the wishes of the parturient. In addition, it addresses the civil responsibility of health professionals and institutions, with emphasis on the importance of ensuring the rights of the parturient and creating a respectful and humanized obstetric setting. The legal approach highlights the need to assign responsibility for potential damages during the labor assistance process. By analyzing these aspects, this paper aims to contribute to the awareness on obstetric violence, nurturing the discussion about care practices provided to pregnant women.
