Objective: to evaluate the effectiveness of physiotherapy in the treatment of athlete patients diagnosed with shoulder impingement syndrome. Methodology: An evaluative systematic literature review (RSL) study was developed based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) on the effectiveness of physiotherapy in the treatment of patients diagnosed with shoulder impingement syndrome. The electronic search was carried out in databases such as Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MedLine/PubMed), Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDRo), Cochrane. Through the following descriptors: “physiotherapy”, “rehabilitation”, “syndrome” and “treatment”, in English, Spanish and Portuguese, with a restriction on the year of publication being the last 10 years. In the database search, 65 articles were found, 55 articles were eliminated because they were not clinical studies or case studies. Being critically evaluated with the eligibility criteria, 10 articles that point out major variables between the study protocols were eliminated according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: After searching for data, 10 articles were included in the research, which highlight that physiotherapeutic intervention in rehabilitation proved to be effective in immediately reducing pain in patients with shoulder impingement syndrome. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the efficiency of physiotherapy in the rehabilitation treatment of shoulder impingement syndrome is high. It is known that the consequences of this syndrome involve physical, functional and socio-emotional consequences. Physiotherapy, when applied in the initial stage of treatment, seeks to improve and/or remedy the sequelae caused by shoulder impingement syndrome in athlete patients.
