Abstract

Surgical practice has undergone continuous evolution with the introduction of advanced techniques and technological innovations. This literature review addresses the exploration of innovations and improvements in surgical practice, highlighting the main advances in recent decades. Minimally invasive surgery, along with robotic surgery, has emerged as a significant innovation, providing clear benefits in terms of shorter recovery time and reduced postoperative complications. Furthermore, the adoption of three-dimensional images and virtual reality has improved anatomical visualization and surgical planning. The use of 3D printing and regenerative medicine promises revolutionary customization of surgical devices and tissue repair. In addition to technological innovations, the review addresses the improvement of traditional surgical techniques, emphasizing the importance of evidence-based clinical guidelines and standardization of procedures. Ethical and regulatory considerations play a crucial role in the responsible adoption of these advanced techniques. The findings highlight the continued need for research to evaluate the long-term impact of innovations, including clinical outcomes, cost-effectiveness and patient satisfaction. Collaboration between surgeons, researchers and regulators is essential to promote safety and effectiveness in advanced surgical practice. As surgery continues to evolve, the quest to constantly improve surgical practice is paramount, with patient well-being as a central priority. This study contributes to an in-depth understanding of advanced techniques in surgery, providing insights into how these innovations are shaping surgical practice and ultimately improving the quality of surgical healthcare.
