This article addresses the effective application of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a therapeutic approach to treat mood disorders and mitigate the risk of suicide in a military environment. The military context often presents unique mental health challenges due to operational and emotional demands and exposure to traumatic events. This study aims to review the theoretical bases of CBT and explore its specific application in the military, considering the culture, values and unique demands of this place. The article justifies the argument that CBT can be a valuable tool in treating mood disorders and managing the risk of suicide among members of the armed forces. Concluding that Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy has promising potential to improve the mental health of military personnel, reducing the prevalence of mood disorders and cases of suicidal ideation. Successful implementation of this approach requires tailored and sensitive treatment for militarism, considering interdisciplinary collaboration between mental health professionals and military leaders. As well, further research is recommended to improve the effectiveness and ongoing adaptation of CBT in this challenging environment.
