Abstract

Minimum intervention (MI) in dentistry aims to maximize the preservation and conservation of the Sadia tooth structure, using educational, preventive and therapeutic strategies. It offers atraumatic treatment and contributes to the patient's well-being and can be used in different areas and can be applied in various dentistry procedures. The objective of this research was to evaluate the students' knowledge and the application of MI in the dental clinic at the faculty of Ilhéus. It was a qualitative and exploratory research with CESUPI academics through a link sent via WhatsApp. The research took place from October 1st to October 28th, 2023 with students from the 7th to the 10th semesters, using online forms on the Google Forms platform. The result obtained will help in the dissemination and adherence of the MI philosophy with scientific evidence, it is expected that future professionals use it and are aware of the benefits that this technique can offer to the surgeon and especially to the patients. It is concluded that academics demonstrate knowledge of the importance of the concept and use of Minimum Intervention, even though not everyone uses it in their daily lives.
