The formation of slopes can be the result of natural processes or human interventions. These slopes in mass-constraining surfaces, whether due to deforestation or deliberate actions, can present stability challenges. This study highlights its relevance in civil engineering, especially in relation to people's safety and the prevention of environmental disasters, such as landslides. Through a literature review, we investigated the technical methods and procedures involved in stabilizing slopes in civil construction projects. The objective is to collect technical, regulatory and practical information that can help civil engineering professionals and academics to recognize the importance of appropriate studies and projects to guarantee the stability of these slopes.
