Abstract

Energy utilities in Brazil face challenges related to financial losses, including fraud, energy diversion, material theft, and equipment defects. These commercial losses have a significant impact on energy supply and result in financial losses for the companies. In this study, an analysis of commercial energy losses in the distribution networks of an energy utility located in Southeast Brazil was conducted. The main objective was to investigate the technologies used to combat these losses. To achieve this goal, a laboratory study was conducted, in which new technologies were applied during simulated inspection processes. Measurements were taken using parameter analyzers to analyze and validate the obtained results, as well as to identify possible irregularities. This approach demonstrated the importance of using these equipment in combating commercial losses. The results obtained during the study highlighted the effectiveness of the employed technologies in combating commercial energy losses. The use of parameter analyzers enabled precise and detailed analysis of electrical parameters, aiding in the detection of irregularities and monitoring the quality of energy supply. This contributes to improving operational efficiency for energy utilities and reducing financial losses caused by commercial losses.
