Chronic kidney disease - CKD is a serious and progressive medical condition that can lead to serious complications and limitations in patients' quality of life, and its treatment requires a multidisciplinary approach, involving doctors, nurses, nutritionists and other health professionals. In this context, nursing plays a fundamental role in this process, providing personalized and holistic care to patients. The present work analyzed the role of nursing in dealing with patients diagnosed with CKD and the effectiveness of these interventions in managing the medical condition and improving the patients' quality of life. To this end, a literature review was carried out, in qualitative research, using the SciELO database, Google Scholar, as well as manuals from the Ministry of Health. It was possible to verify that nurses play a crucial role in providing preventive, educational and practical interventions in the care for people with CKD, such as assessment and monitoring, education about medications, lifestyle, hygiene and counseling, coordination of care with the healthcare team, monitoring treatment and signs of complications, as well as emotional support for the patient and the family.
