The financial impact of canceling elective procedures during the pandemic was a topic little discussed during Covid-19, with more urgent demands being prioritized. Currently, the financial impacts of the pandemic are increasingly evident in everyday life, bringing to light a discussion that was so important and left behind: the cancellation of elective procedures and how much this impacted the revenue of healthcare institutions. A non-systematic literature review study was carried out, searching for the terms: “Covid-19”, “financial impact”, and “cancellation of elective procedures” in the following databases: PubMed and Scielo. The work showed impacts on the income of large and small health networks, during the years 2020 and 2021, with the objective of reallocating financial resources to combat Covid-19, causing a deficit in revenue for numerous hospitals and institutions.
