Abstract

The objective of this research is to understand the importance of psychology in the training of grassroots football athletes. To this end, we sought to review the concepts of Sports Psychology, as well as highlight its contribution to the psychological preparation of grassroots football players, and also describe the collaborative action of the professional sports psychologist. To corroborate the ideas presented, bibliographical research was developed with evidence from authors who deal with the topic. It is based on the hypothesis that psychology positively influences the development of grassroots football athletes due to improved quality of life and improved performance on and off the field. In this way, it can be concluded that Sports Psychology has the function of intervening and supporting mental and physical balance and improving the quality, performance and performance of athletes, specifically in this work of youth category players.
