Reducing the intake of macronutrients and micronutrients can lead to severe protein-energy malnutrition, which can lead to a decrease in post-surgical recovery and, in some cases, leading to death. The evaluation of nutritional therapy according to the literature, immunomodulators when applied, has the purpose of assisting in the immunological response, generating several benefits such as reducing inflammatory processes, reducing complications and hospitalizations. Therefore, the objective of this work is to propose a nutritional therapy protocol using immunomodulators for pre-surgical patients, with application at the Hospital Universitário Getúlio Vargas. The present study consists of a literature review, using important websites to search for relevant articles published in the last 10 years. Patients will be classified according to Nutritional Risk Screening 2002 (NRS2002), for nutritional risk. Using the following methods, nutritional screening, anamnesis, NRS 2002, ASG, care level classification (NAN), dietary planning, anthropometric assessment, biochemical parameters. The development of this article and consequently, the implementation of a nutritional therapy protocol of immunomodulators for pre-surgical patients at the Hospital Universitário Getúlio Vargas, may help in the continued training of nutritionists working in hospital health care.
