Abstract

The research work presented below aims to expand knowledge about the growing consolidation of organized crime in the Brazilian prison system, presenting the relevant legislation and measures to combat organized crime. Criminal organizations have emerged in a worrying way, as their actions directly affect an entire society. The increase in criminal groups and the crisis in the public security system are determining factors for these criminal groups to adopt a violent and radical stance towards the State. However, organized crime is a universal problem, and today it is one of the biggest concerns in the Brazilian judicial system. Firstly, in order to achieve the objectives proposed in the research, an approach will be made to the concepts of Criminal Organization. Next, legislative developments regarding the Criminal Organization will be explained. Thus, this research was based on bibliographic sources through consultations with specialized literature.
