Over the last 20 years, the number of violent attacks in schools has increased alarmingly, as found in studies by Unicamp and Instituto Sou da Paz. The objective is to demonstrate the need to create public policies that can be adopted as mechanisms to combat massacres occurring in schools in Brazil, more effectively. These episodes vary in severity, from attempts to completed massacres, resulting in fatal and non-fatal victims. This worrying reality demands an urgent discussion, as the available data is up to 2022 and, in 2023, other attacks have already been recorded which, although reported, did not receive the same media relevance. The present study aims to demonstrate, through analysis, the understanding, through the different regional contexts of the country, facts that give rise to school violence, reaching the principle of school massacres, and the need to create integrated public policies to combat it. Society and the State face the challenge of understanding the roots of these problems, which turn children and adolescents into killers, and this requires in-depth studies and research into mental health and the reasons behind these acts of violence. Given the above, the expected results of the research are that increasing rates of attacks on educational institutions in Brazil will decrease. It is essential to carry out more comprehensive studies to effectively face this cruel reality, seeking effective ways to understand the context of this violence and combat it, aiming to protect human lives.
