Abstract

If you've ever heard the phrase "there is no such thing as a perfect crime", you might be wondering why. The answer is very simple, even more so nowadays, where cell phones, cameras and attentive and curious eyes are everywhere. In addition, the human being itself already leaves many traces, and in many places that appear during the day or at night, countless traces of our presence are left. Following this reasoning, in order to understand how the function of criminal expertise works in a situation, we must understand how and when it all began. Thus, in this work we are going to delve into all aspects that involve criminal expertise, especially in Brazil, and how the challenges of research and modernization advances can greatly influence criminal cases that often seem impossible to be solved. We will also cite in chronological order the achievements that the profession has obtained and what can still be conquered.
