This research aims to inform about the need to insert the knowledge of the Federal Constitution as a transversal theme in secondary and elementary school institutions. It should be emphasized that in order to be a citizen, enjoying political, civil and social rights, it is important to understand what the fundamental rights of each person are, as well as their duties to society. The most appropriate way to learn about your citizenship is to study the Magna Carta of your country, because there are all the legal provisions that govern the lives of people and institutions. It is proposed to introduce this transversal theme in the curriculum of Brazilian educational institutions, based primarily on the legal provision that ensures that knowledge about ethics and citizenship should be provided by schools, as well as the use of various thoughts on the subject. The themes dealt with are based mainly on the research of José Murilo de Carvalho (2002) in conceptualizing in a triple way the citizenship, and in Oliveira (2016) proposing a legislative change that includes the constitutional study in the curricular grades, in an introductory way in elementary education, and more comprehensively in high school, thus respecting the progressive development of students.
