We resorted to the analysis of the Portuguese academic studies, through a systematic review and, subsequently, we carried out a qualitative analysis of the information obtained. This study was carried out in November and December 2022, in the Scientific Open Access Repository of Portugal (RCAAP) database. A total of 2366 results were found, of which six were selected for this systematic review. Based on the analysis of the different authors addressed, it is concluded that research is not only important and central in academic training, but also the professional practice of social workers.
