Bacteria are unicellular organisms that have the ability to produce infectious processes. Some bacteria have so-called antibiotic resistance, which provides them with better adaptation and resistance to some antibiotics. Thus, the present study whose problem seeks to identify the factors that promote the inappropriate use of antimicrobials and how to combat this fact, which leads to bacterial resistance. In the search for answers to this fact, one must understand the relationship between antibiotic resistance, the inappropriate use of drugs, the factors that contribute to this use, forms of combat or control, as well as verify the importance of correct and rationale for antibiotics. The study of the indiscriminate and incorrect use of medicines and the development of microbial resistance is of great importance in the current public health situation. Even with the emergence and availability of effective antimicrobials, infectious diseases continue to cause morbidity and mortality throughout the world. To carry out this work, we sought to understand the relationship between antibiotic resistance by analyzing the factors that contribute to the inappropriate use of antimicrobials, in addition to verifying ways to combat, or control, and the importance of correct use of antibiotics. To develop the theme, a bibliographical research was carried out, searching for relevant materials using key words, selecting the appropriate materials. It should be noted that due to the fact that bacteria have become stronger, developing different resistance mechanisms, the importance of new studies and research is seen in the search to control the various existing tools as well as the creation of new mechanisms in the search to avoid the appearance new bacterial resistance.
