Abstract

Attention to combating moral harassment is of fundamental importance for the performance, productivity and image of organizations. Whether in the family, educational, business or private context, combat ensures a healthy environment, with respect and dignity for human rights. The general objective of the research was to systematize the understanding about the concepts of moral harassment, from a chronological perspective. The specific objectives were to know the main concepts related to intentionality, frequency and legal provisions that allow lawsuits. For context, examples of educational materials used in federal public bodies to combat the theme presented are presented. The relevance of this work is justified for reflection on the possible gains in productivity, performance, motivation and quality of life arising from a healthy and safe environment. As a research method, a systematic review of narrative literature was used. It is concluded, in view of the above, that despite the efforts of national and international organizations, the lack of specific legislation weakens the system to combat moral harassment. That bullying is silent, pervasive, malignant, offensive, repetitive and inherent in dysfunctional behavior that is responsible for causing physical and psychological problems. In the public sector, the fight is organized mainly based on legislation, through the elaboration and dissemination of preventive and follow-up measures against moral harassment. The impacts of moral harassment even affect the corporate image, generating losses, reduced productivity and waste of organizational resources. Adequate attention to the quality of life in the work environment can be the catalyst for greater motivation, causing a competitive advantage. As a suggestion, the research can be applied to a greater understanding of the concepts in the real world.
