This article presents an analysis of the use of assistive technologies as an inclusive tool in special education. With the aim of promoting equal educational opportunities for all students, regardless of their physical, cognitive or sensory abilities, assistive technologies have played a key role in promoting educational inclusion. Throughout the article, case studies are presented that demonstrate how assistive technologies can be used effectively in the classroom, helping students with disabilities to access and participate in educational activities in an equitable manner. Among the assistive technologies addressed, voice recognition software, screen readers, accessibility features on mobile devices and brain interfaces stand out. The results obtained in several studies suggest that the use of assistive technologies contributes to the academic and social development of students with disabilities, as well as to the improvement of the quality of the teaching and learning process. In addition, the implementation of these technologies in schools can promote the appreciation of diversity and respect for differences, allowing all students to have an active and meaningful participation in the school community. However, the article also brings up some challenges and limitations in the use of assistive technologies in special education, such as lack of access to equipment and teacher training. In view of this, recommendations are presented for overcoming these barriers, such as training teachers, partnerships with specialized institutions and the search for legislation that guarantees the availability and proper use of these technologies in schools. Therefore, it is concluded that assistive technologies represent an important inclusive tool in special education, enhancing the participation and learning of students with disabilities. However, for this use to be effective, it is necessary to overcome challenges and ensure access and adequate training for teachers and students, aiming to promote an inclusive and quality education for all.
