PHARMACEUTICAL ATTENTION TO THE TREATMENT OF ONCOLOGICAL PATIENTS: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

Cancer is one of the main public health problems worldwide and its therapy has become highly specialized and well advanced in recent years. Objective: This study aims to analyze the impact of pharmaceutical interventions in the treatment of cancer patients, focusing on aspects related to the dimensions of guidance and pharmaceutical care. Materials and Methods: This review included articles published in the Virtual Health Library (BVS), SCIELO and PubMed databases. Publications in Portuguese and English, from 2012 to 2022 were considered. The Boolean operator “and” and Descriptors in Health Sciences (DeCS) in English and Portuguese were used, these being “Pharmaceutical Care” and “Oncology” and “Clinical Pharmacist” and “Cancer”. Systematic review and literature review articles were excluded. Results: 12 articles were selected for this systematic review. The studies analyzed in their conclusions prove the need for the insertion of the pharmaceutical professional in the cancer care team. Conclusion: The participation of the pharmacist in the oncology care team is efficient and provides the optimization of the pharmacotherapeutic treatment of patients, increasing adherence to treatment, reducing drug-related problems (DRPs) and helping to improve the quality of life.
