Abstract

Primary Care coverage in a territory is an essential factor for the development of better levels of health, especially when taking into account territories with high vulnerability and health inequalities. In this context, understanding population coverage by Primary Health Care (PHC) teams and the relationship with Sensitive Conditions to Primary Care (CSAP) is extremely important. In this regard, the objective of this study was to quantitatively describe the relationship between coverage rates and hospitalization rates for Hypertension, in the city of Rio de Janeiro in 2022. observational and cross-sectional, with collection of data from the Hospital Information System of the Unified Health System and coverage rates in PHC available on the digital platform of health information in the state of Rio de Janeiro. All data refer to the year 2022. A growing coverage rate was found in the year 2022 in the municipality, starting the year with 72.5% of the registered population and ending the same year with 77.5%. For hypertensive diseases, females showed the highest rates of hospitalizations in the territory, while in relation to age groups, a growing pattern of hospitalizations was observed as the age groups increased. Hypertensive diseases are conditions sensitive to PHC and understanding their behavior in space-time is of fundamental importance for the development of public health policies.
