Postgraduate stricto sensu is the classification intended for the area of academic research, in which students write a dissertation or defend a thesis on the specific topic they are researching during their training, where they play a fundamental role in the technological development and society of the country. However, combining motherhood and postgraduate studies becomes a major challenge for research mothers due to several factors. In this way, this study aims to report my experience in the stricto sensu postgraduate course at the master's level at the European University of the Atlantic located in the city of Santander in Spain. Articles associated with motherhood in the Stricto Sensu graduate program were used through Google Scholar, SciELO, Pubmed and Web of Science. Based on my experience, we can highlight that combining motherhood and a master's degree becomes a great challenge for research mothers, thus requiring public policy programs to obtain a support network from women so that they can reconcile motherhood and academic professional qualification.
