THE HEALTH ACADEMY AS A HEALTH PROMOTION STRATEGY: SUCCESSFUL EXPERIENCE IN THE AMAZON

Introduction: The Health Academy is a public service that works through health promotion and care, its focus is on illness and mortality, very focused on chronic diseases, often resulting from the sedentary lifestyle in question of the Brazilian population, since people they do not eat well and do not practice sports. Objective: To report and inform how the health academy works as a health promotion strategy. Methodology: experience lived and developed in a plateau community focusing on Health Care, Health Management and Public Policies in which scheduled visits were carried out for data collection, functioning and the interference of the health academy in the lives of residents. Results and Discussion: It was possible to establish a cause and effect relationship between the social determinants of health and the importance of health equipment for residents of the neighborhood. In this way, it is undoubted that the demand for the health academy is directly linked to Primary Care, as benefits for the promotion of health, a fact that contributes to comprehensive care, autonomy, culture and the social reality of people, promoting quality of life and subject to vulnerabilities and health risks when it comes to social determinants and conditions in health. Conclusion: it is believed that the implementation of new health academy posts in other neighborhoods according to the availability of resources and interest of the community can significantly contribute to sports activities, thus health education being developed, allowing the necessary guidelines to be provided. health promotion, prevention and rehabilitation, contributing to the reduction of physical inactivity and future illnesses.
