The article highlights the need to "foster socio-economic development through the exploitation of natural resources in a sustainable manner in Guinea-Bissau." Thus, the objective of the article seeks to understand the causes and consequences of deforestation and its damage caused to the country's forests. Being that, these situations of deforestation and soil destruction negatively impacted the environment and without economic benefit to the state. In the methodological scope, the texts related to the research theme were used during the elaboration of the article. Among the bibliographies consulted for the reading and analysis of the approaches of different authors are books, scientific articles, theses, reports, etc. In summary, it is necessary for the Guinean State to create popular awareness about environmental education and likewise to involve the private sector in combating deforestation and unsustainable fishing.
