The present research analyzed the Brazilian legislation on the distributed generation of renewable energy in the residential scope and how it affects consumer relations between consumers, concessionaires and companies that supply energy generation equipment. Research has shown that this type of contract has economic and environmental advantages for consumers, although it also implies duties and responsibilities for all parties involved. The survey highlighted the importance of up-to-date and adequate legislation that regulates this new form of consumerist relationship, guaranteeing the rights and interests of all those involved, as well as the legal security and efficiency of the national electrical system. The survey also emphasized the need to inform and guide consumers about the characteristics, advantages, disadvantages and risks of distributed generation of renewable energy, so that consumers can make informed and informed decisions about adhering to this type of contract.
