Early childhood education plays a key role in children's development, providing them with a solid foundation for their cognitive, social and emotional growth. However, the country faces several challenges, such as the lack of vacancies, inadequate infrastructure, shortage of qualified professionals and the mistaken perception of early childhood education as mere care. Despite these challenges, there have been significant advances in early childhood education in Brazil. Public policies are implemented to expand access to preschool education, with the construction and restructuring of day care centers and preschools. In addition, programs for training and valuing professionals have contributed to raising the quality of early childhood education. Successful experiences and good practices have emerged, highlighting innovative initiatives in the field of early childhood education. Partnerships between teaching institutions, the community and families are encouraged to promote quality education for children of preschool age. However, there are still challenges to be overcome in order to consolidate an excellent early childhood education in Brazil. It is necessary to continuously invest in the area, ensuring adequate training for professionals, pedagogically sound curricula and constant evaluation of the quality of institutions. This article offers a comprehensive view of the challenges faced and the advances made in early childhood education in Brazil, highlighting the importance of quality education at this crucial stage in children's lives. By overcoming these challenges, it is possible to achieve significant advances and provide a solid foundation for the future integral development of Brazilian children.
