THE INFLUENCE OF SWIMMING ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF AUTISTS

Abstract

The present study aims to identify the change in the behavior of children with autism through the practice of swimming. This is a field research with collection of information about autistic children, aged between 3 and 8 years who already practice swimming. For data collection, some questionnaires were applied with closed and open questions, for those responsible to answer. The specific points of analysis were: motor coordination, speech and social interaction. Those responsible who answered the questionnaire said that there were significant improvements in these aspects. Therefore, it can be concluded that swimming has a fundamental role in the development of children with autism, as it helps in motor coordination, bringing an improvement in social interaction and in the development of the ability to socialize with the family, teacher and other children.
