Access to social security services in riverside communities in the Amazon is hindered by vast distances, reliance on river transport, and logistical limitations inherent to locations far from urban centers. This article analyzes the operations of the PrevBarco program along the Madeira River basin, based on service records from 2024 and 2025. The study employs a quantitative, descriptive, and documentary approach, grounded in the analysis of operational reports from the National Social Security Institute (INSS) and spreadsheets detailing the missions undertaken. Data regarding locations served, benefit applications, general service encounters, individuals screened, benefit amounts cited, and administrative outcomes were examined. Records show 8,936 general service encounters and 3,574 applications in 2024. In 2025, there were 7,363 general service encounters and 2,856 applications; of these, 1,384 were granted, 1,096 were denied, and 376 remained under review. The results indicate that PrevBarco expands the INSS's institutional presence in municipalities along the Madeira River basin and facilitates the processing of claims related to maternity, disability, age-based benefits, and social assistance. The study concludes that the program constitutes a vital strategy for delivering social security services in areas characterized by geographical and logistical barriers.
