O PAPEL DO FARMACÊUTICO NO PROCESSO DE HEMODIÁLISE

Abstract

Chronic kidney failure consists of kidney damage and progressive and irreversible loss of kidney function. The renal patient needs a procedure called hemodialysis that removes unwanted substances from the body such as toxins, liquids and mineral salts. Thus, this study aims to analyze the importance of the pharmacist in hemodialysis treatment. For the preparation of the study, the bibliographic research method was used, which was carried out through books and studies of a scientific nature, from the following online databases: PubMed, Web of Science, Bireme and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). The study exposed about renal failure and the hemodialysis process, addressed how clinical pharmacy helps in the treatment of hemodialysis, and demonstrated the benefits of pharmaceutical care for renal patients. Finally, it is concluded that the pharmacist has a fundamental role in hemodialysis treatment, providing pharmaceutical care safely and effectively, ensuring treatment adherence and better quality of life.
