Abstract

This article analyzes the song Tarauacá, by Maria Zenaide de Souza Carvalho, known as Zenaide Parteira, seeking to understand how lived experience can constitute a form of knowledge and narrative about geographical space. It is based on the understanding that the production of knowledge about space is not exclusive to academic Geography, since individuals experience, transform, and attribute meanings to places in their everyday lives. In this sense, the concept of the geographical subject is employed to understand the composer as someone who engages in geography through her compositions unintentionally and, based on her experiences, produces and communicates interpretations of the territory. The analysis highlights how the song articulates mobility, work, memory, and identity. Finally, the article discusses musical production in the context of market relations and the cultural industry, emphasizing its contradictory dimension between commodification and the preservation of territorial identities. Thus, the work reveals forms of knowledge constructed through lived experience and everyday relationships with place, valuing local perspectives in the understanding of territory.
