THE IMPACTS OF ADVOCATING FOR THE RIGHTS OF WOMEN VICTIMS OF OBSTETRIC VIOLENCE

Abstract

The fight for the rights of women who have suffered obstetric violence is becoming a crucial point in public health and social justice. Obstetric violence encompasses physical, verbal, and psychological abuse that occurs during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, constituting a violation of women's fundamental rights. This study aims to examine the social, psychological, and legal effects of defending these rights. The approach adopted was qualitative, with data collection carried out through literature review, analysis of judicial cases, and testimonies from impacted women. The results show that defending women's rights increases awareness, improves legal protection, and helps to reduce cases of obstetric violence. Furthermore, it highlights the relevance of empowering women through education and community support. This study helps to understand obstetric violence as a human rights issue and offers support to health professionals, public managers, and society in general.
