Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the long-term impacts of energy drink consumption among young adults. It was an observational, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, conducted using an electronic questionnaire created on Google Forms and administered to 328 participants aged 20 to 35. The results showed that 83.5% of participants consume energy drinks, with 65.5% reporting usage for more than three years. Key effects perceived after consumption included increased energy, agitation, reduced sleep, tachycardia, anxiety, insomnia, and palpitations. Additionally, 44.2% noted an increase in heart rate, and 28.0% reported difficulty sleeping. Although 85.7% of participants acknowledged that frequent consumption could harm their health, some stated they intend to continue consuming them or remained undecided about stopping the habit. The study concludes that energy drink consumption is common among young adults and may be associated with cardiovascular changes, sleep disturbances, and anxiety symptoms, highlighting the need for health education initiatives and prevention strategies.
