ENVIRONMENTAL PERCEPTION AND SOCIAL ATTITUDE OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS THROUGH ECOLOGY FIELD CLASSES

Abstract

Environmental Education seeks to form citizens who perceive themselves as an integral part of the environment, active in the preservation and conservation of species and in the well-being of society. From this perspective, the school has a fundamental role as it helps in the academic and human development of students. The work was developed with the aim of getting to know the students' environmental perceptions about the school environment and its surroundings, as well as stimulating social and environmental practices in the school community. This research was carried out with third grade high school students from a public school in the state of Ceará. The work was organized in two distinct spaces, the school and the leisure center that is located close to the school. Questionnaires were applied before and after the field class, in addition to actions such as planting seedlings around the school. The field class presented itself as a facilitating learning strategy, as it expanded the students' perceptions about the environmental problems present in the school and its surroundings, allowing the development of critical thinking about their actions, in addition to proposing solutions to environmental problems faced at school and at the leisure center.
