MAPPING THE SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE ON THE RED PILL MOVEMENT AND GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

Abstract

This study aimed to map the Brazilian scientific literature on the Red Pill ideology and its relationship with gender-based violence. This qualitative integrative literature review was conducted through the CAPES Journal Portal and included articles published over the last five years. The search employed the descriptors Red Pill AND Gender, Red Pill AND Misogyny, and Red Pill AND Women, applying predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The selected studies were organized into an analytical framework and examined through Thematic Analysis. The findings indicate that Brazilian scientific production on the subject remains limited, with most publications concentrated between 2024 and 2025. The studies associate the Red Pill ideology with the normalization of gender inequalities, the dissemination of misogynistic discourses, male victimization, and the reinforcement of hegemonic masculinity, contributing to the legitimization of violence against women in digital environments. It is concluded that expanding research on this topic is essential to strengthen scientific knowledge and support strategies aimed at preventing and addressing gender-based violence.
