Abstract

Building an inclusive society requires the integrated action of different social institutions, with family and school as its fundamental pillars. Living together, respecting differences, and valuing diversity are learnings that begin within the family and are consolidated in the school environment. This opinion article aims to critically reflect on the role of family and school in promoting social and educational inclusion, analyzing how these spaces contribute—or fail to contribute—to the formation of empathetic, autonomous, and supportive individuals. Based on a theoretical and reflective approach supported by authors such as Paulo Freire, Maria Teresa Eglér Mantoan, Lev Vygotsky, and Philippe Perrenoud, it is argued that true inclusion depends on a dialogical relationship between family, school, and community, guided by ethical and humanizing commitment.
