This study aimed to discuss the clinical indications and the factors that justified the choice for tooth extraction 108, considering the possible consequences of periodontal disease on the performance of equines. In addition, we sought to describe in detail the surgical technique adopted for intraoral extraction, addressing preoperative care, the extraction process and the postoperative measures necessary to reduce complications and ensure adequate recovery. The study also evaluated the impacts of the procedure on the well-being of the animal, highlighting the importance of recovery and safe return to physical activities, highlighting the role of periodic dental examination and the correct management of oral health in high-performance horses. The relationship between diet and the development of periodontal diseases was highlighted, emphasizing how the maintenance of good oral health directly influences the performance of equine athletes and exposure. The procedure was performed on February 17, 2025, and the postoperative follow-up was extended until April 7, 2025, completing 50 days of clinical observation. During this period, no significant complications were recorded, and only a slight local sensitivity was observed in the first days, compatible with the normal healing process. Proper management, combined with oral hygiene and the correct administration of prescribed drug therapy, contributed to the satisfactory evolution of the condition. At the end of the follow-up, there was an evident improvement in the well-being, chewing and physical performance of the mare, demonstrating the effectiveness of the procedure and the importance of continuous post-surgical monitoring.
